one more thing for the weekend :-)

Where do ideas come from...

Following that post and the response post of my friend waldemar i did some research. This research was not to prove if advertising is art, but what is advertising i found some interesting things like definitions and interesting facts that say that advertising is the second older profession after prostitution. However in most of the places i've been,i kept seeing this small yet powerful word IDEA.
Everybody nowadays speak about Big Ideas, ideas that can work equally well in TV and in the street, ideas that find followers, that sometimes are so strong and move mountains;
Ideas from which the endless human creativity flourish, ideas that can solve all kind of problems from global warming to detergent brands problems, from aids to soft drinks competition; So after a small chat with myself and decided to readdress the question:

""Where do ideas come from?"

In the past i have developed some theories about how we people come up with ideas some of this theories are ultra-fiction like the one i have that says: "Ideas are living creatures who float over our heads in another dimension and when magic happens they slide and fall into our heads." But if we return into reality we can see that ideas can come from everywhere, or even better ideas exist in our heads and they are developed with the addition of the pictures we see everyday in our lives.
The following video is a really interesting video about how creatives come up with ideas...

One of the comments to that video:

"wow. so scary. turn off your TVs people. Read a book. Thats what I am going to do now. I totally understand how if you THINK good things, good things will happen. Amazing lesson here."

SO i think.. i'll go out now cause i need some good ideas not only for advertising... after all who said that ideas are only for advertising? Did I?

To the infinity and Beyond.

Culture=Cultura

I look around and i see change...Things now change rapidly..this industry is under a pressure due to the big changes that are about to come with the rise of digital.

There are many people saying that Advertising will die and things will change. PR will rule the world by using digital weapons to kill traditional advertising, after all who watch TV anymore...

Well in my opinion this is a really good PR technique for PR people to use, but! (in this profession there is always a BUT) i would say that advertising will not die.

I often say that advertising is a form of Art, i remember once writing in a school project that advertising is the Art of the everyday life, because it has the ability to record with the best way the: "how we people live everyday" and even if we like it or not advertising portrays in way our culture. But what exactly happens with the culture of advertising how this culture must change.

Advertising agencies must change and not change names or the way they work they must start to change their culture. The people who work there should open their mind to changes and form a culture that will enable them enter the digital or whatever world is going to come next.

I remember learning in elementary school the basic components of Culture:

a. norms
b. values
c. institutions
d. artifacts

each one of them is as important as the other and all together form a culture. I think the same applies for advertising agencies as well. Those agencies who will realize the upcoming change and change these key components would be the agencies that will play big in the future....most of them hesitate but all of them should remember... rules to be rewritten lines to be redrawn..

Long Live Advertising

Once creative always Creative.

Amazing video..it worths every minute just sit down and relax...

This is Insane.... Insane? THIS IS LIVING!!!

Sony playstation3 is a new brand yet so powerful. This is living is really impressive communication that Sony used for the PS3.
The short-films looking ads with great cinematography are here to target a really really weird audience but in a very very creative way in my opinion. These films are full of insights and awesome characters. But the best thing is that the viewer can make any connections he like by simply watching the movie.. really lovely campaign.

Junior Lucky Bastards

Another interesting think that came into my attention today is the talent-creative scheme that Diesel Clothing company runs. Anyone fancy working in the Beautiful Italy or maybe in NYC or maybe in London should take a look here... the only bad thing is that you only have 10 days until the 30 of April. But Unreachable is only the Sky. (omg i invented a slogan) :-)))

It's about redrawing the lines i guess...

What i always like to say& believe:

Rules to be rewritten and lines to be redrawn.. in life there is always a change...
So i remember my college years and more specifically a marketing course i think the title was Introduction to marketing. One of the things that i remember my instructor bombarding me with, was the 4P's and the attention that we should always give to the 4P's.... well things are changing and i think that Promotion, Place, Product, Price sounds too old fashioned. So i would say that we should start using the 4C's

Crew(people)
Creativity
Client
Cause..

and maybe a 5th.. would be the Consumer..

Thanks. :-)))

Impossible is Nothing

I will use the succesfull slogan of Adidas Impossible is nothing for this sepctacular goal by the Argentinean striker L.Mesi. The amazing thing to notice here, is the similarity with the goal that Diego Armando Maradona had scored some years ago. And i have to admit that i'm really curious about the results of this goal; a small prediction (trend-wise) Mesi is gonna be a trend...
enjoy this fab, vido..

an important lesson for patience..

Before geting my self into advertising, i was a basketball player. These years were really important for me as i had the chance to learn some important things. I might not learned that impossible is nothing, but one thing i now very well is that a game ends when the ref gives the final whistle, until that time we should always fight to win we should always hope... if we win we should celebrate our victory like it is the first vicotory we had, if we loose we have to sit down and think what went wrong and next time make it better... So there is still hope...

& a happy Green Year

Winter, you'll miss it when it's gone..

Google Domination

Google reached an agreement today to acquire DoubleClick, the online advertising company, from two private equity firms for $3.1 billion in cash, the companies announced, an amount that was almost double the $1.65 billion in stock that Google paid for YouTube late last year.

The sale offers Google access to DoubleClick’s advertisement software and, more importantly, its relationships with Web publishers, advertisers and advertising agencies.

For months, Google has been trying to expand its foothold in online advertising into display ads, the area where DoubleClick is strongest. Google made its name and still generates most of its revenue from search and contextual text ads.

DoubleClick, which was founded in 1996, provides display ads on Web sites like MySpace, The Wall Street Journal and America Online as well as software to help those sites maximize ad revenue. The company also helps ad buyers — advertisers and ad agencies — manage and measure the effectiveness of their rich media, search and other online ads.

Now that's interesting

TIE provides people within the communications industry with the opportunity to work on short-term business placements with reputable Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in developing countries.
The goal is to strengthen these organisations’ communications so that they have a voice, whilst providing unique, life-changing development experiences for everyone involved.
The NGOs they partner with work on a diverse range of issues, from HIV/Aids to the rainforest to street kids.
It's a fantastic opportunity to connect these two sectors and there is just so much to learn from one another.
The project is still in its development stage, but if you have any questions or would like to get involved, visit their site

Happy Birthday

Today is my favourite team's Birthday. AEK athens is now 83 years old! Happy Bday!

Great things happen...

I was really excited to see this nice initiative. As we all know we live in a Green period in which we all look at the future very carefully, because we know that climate change can be fatal in some years from now. So if you are lucky enough you can register for this concert Here and be part of a very nice and optimistic movement... Fingers crossed!

the come back?

Sun is shining...:-) :-( :-))

Just nice!

You spend these days.
Saving money taking
Food home watching
TV alone
Come down a bit.
I found your dancing shoes
Outside
Let's see if they still fit.
Oh you sweet thing
You'll be sweeter still
pee in the dark my love
Because we cannot pay the bill
I'll take you out to the park
And have all the evenings
I saved for
Underneath the stars & wind
My sweet thing.

Our story...

You know, one thing i always like to talk about, is the phrase "that our story is the best story we can say"...
everyone has a story about himself. I would say that life is a story, our story we make the chapters we create the heroes and we make it stranger than fiction... the good thing in that story is that most things are unexpected, thus interesting.....The qualities we have as people and the way we think make up our story, in my opinion most people don't have a clue about the power they have in their hands in their brain and in their heart...

So what i would suggest to anyone who feels depressed and somehow strange about his life... is to write a story sit down grab a piece of paper and a pencil (always a pencil) and start writing.. your story or how your story want to be... once finished read it carefully, hide it somewhere and open it after years... i think it would be fun.. if now you don't know how to start your story pay a visit here,

WE ARE ALIVE!

The truth is that i've been very busy during the last couple of weeks... Things were frantic but i think i did well, i could have done better, but maybe i keep the best things for the future; who knows?... The best are yet to come, sooner or later the sun always comes out, to the infinity and beyond...
