The Alchemists... " "

Imagine a movie that, for the first time ever, pulls the curtain back to reveal a small group of individuals you've probably never heard of, but who undoubtedly changed your mind and your behavior… THE ALCHEMISTS is a surprisingly personal exploration of some of the most influential advertising giants of the last century, and the communication they created which rocked our culture. Inspired by the social movements of their time and driven by the need to communicate some greater truth, these artists and writers despised mediocrity and the status quo of the advertising industry and brought a revolutionary spirit to their work:

Lee Clow, who created the most-famous commercial in history by introducing Macintosh computers in "1984"; George Lois who single-handedly saved MTV from extinction with his trademark in-your-face celebrity campaign; Phyllis K. Robinson who helped define the entire "me generation" with her liberating spin on selling Clairol; Hal Riney who got President Reagan re-elected; and Dan Wieden who, inspired by the last words of executed murderer Gary Gilmore, came up with the little phrase "Just Do It" and revolutionized advertising forever. Sports, fashion, music, politics, technology-our culture-was deeply affected by these alchemists.

Through their stories, and with humor and drama, THE ALCHEMISTS will be the definitive film of the 20th century phenomenon of creative advertising.

It will feature celebrities, upbeat cultural commentary, and an amazing display of commercials and history from the last century, including the ground-breaking work of Bill Bernbach (VW), David Ogilvy (Hathaway), Jay Chiat and many others. But this is not a historical documentary or a tribute, and it's not an analysis of the perils of consumerism and thought-control. It is a film about creative rebellion, and how all-powerful art springs forth from deeply personal, psychological sources and the need for change… even in advertising.

anyway but backwards

Backwards atmospheric Asimo is Honda's advance humanoid robot. Asimo is the main character of the new Honda TV Commercial created by Wieden+Kennedy London. It would be a very interesting campaign in my opinion not only because it will show some key features and demonstrate the abilities of Asimo, but also because Asimo is a product that came out of the power of dreams which is Honda's main motto for years. It is the power of dreams that inspires lot of people progressing and finding new things, it is the power of dreams that makes mountains move. It is the power of dreams that is hidden well inside us that can make the world a better place. The Commercial is really well executed its simple and atmospheric great copy and really appealing music. Here are some videos from Asimo commercial that I found in Youtube, but not the commercial itself.
Enjoy.

The Horror is closer than you think

A really cool campaign made by TBWA/BERLIN for PS2
Snap shot cameras were developed for the Games Convention and distributed by hostesses. From the outside the camera was only branded with the Playstation logo, but the film inside the camera made this promotion an “action to remember”. On every picture taken, ghosts and frightning faces appeared on the pre-exposed film. The last picture revealed the mystery with the line: “The horror is closer than you think”.

i just love it.

BarVo

This is a congratulations post. Barcelona FC, one of the moste respectfull fotball brands on the planet. So far BARCA had the no ad policy ver their jerseys. This year though they just brought innovation. They promoted UNICEF and they did that not only for free but they are sponsoring unicef for its causes. Really great effort amigos! Here is the campaign that supported the whole project:

That's a really really inspiring work that BBH brought to life. I mean Great planning! on that. I would risk to compare this ad with the Apple's think Different. A "Quotes source ad". And the winner is....

DOVENOVATION

Here is something really cool. I think an excellent strategy from the guys of Ogilvy. Dove campaignforrealbeauty is one of the most successful campaigns I’ve ever seen. 'Every girl deserves to feel beautiful just the way she is' they claim and here's a new commercial for the campaign. Excellent work!

DA DA....

ladies and gents tomorrow it's the moment we all been waiting for (ok not all) Sony will launch the sequel of it's new tv commercial following the success of the award wining "Balls". It's a big challenge for them since they have to overcome innovation, the spot will be shown online i think at 20:45 GMT and it's all about paints. My Q's will it make it, what's the song, will i say wow.

Here you can watch some footage of the making of:

"Greatcopywriting"

IMPOSSIBLE IS JUST A BIG WORD THROWN AROUND BY SMALL MEN WHO FIND IT EASIER TO LIVE IN THE WORLD THEY'VE BEEN GIVEN THAN TO EXPLORE THE POWER THEY HAVE TO CHANGE IT. IMPOSSIBLE IS NOT A FACT.IT'S AN OPINION.IMPOSSIBLE IS NOT A DECLERATION.IT'S A DARE.IMPOSSIBLE IS POTENTIAL.IMPOSSIBLE IS TEMPORARY.

IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING

copy appeared in print ads of the "Impossible is nothing Adidas campaign"

Lovemarks...

Right now i am reading a book which i strongly recomend to anyone who wants to "play" in the communications industry. Kevin Roberts CEO of Saatchi&Saatchi puts his signature in a very usefull books. Lovemarks as he named the book is a whole system that in a very few words tries to explain the relationship consumers have with their favourite brands. My favourite brand is certainly Haribo (jelly candies) i don't think i could live without them as long as i remember my self i just eat Haribo. I just really love them...

Karaoke Battlegrounds

Tonight me and some friends had a marvelous night competing on Karaoke, really creative evening. Lots of talented and lots of untalented singers like me pushed our skills in the PS2-Singstar battleground. Karaoke used to be a trend at least in Greece a couple years ago. I remember many bars were organizing Karaoke nights with great success (Mike's Irish Bar was really good). The Question now, is now what? Karaoke is not so trendy... and i think it's leaving space for a new trend maybe flirting championship beta, or even pencil fighting.. who knows? I think i'll begin thinking of something new...

Chanson Triste.

NEW TREND???

C'MON i am excited about a new trend that i believe comes out! The guys from Opel used it in their new commercial. Remember me these new little muppets are going to become really famous. Let's see if someday we have the first World Tour of C'mons.
Right now i am acquiring info about C'mons and ill'get back with lots of info..

Career VS Job

Today I had a really long day with a friend of mine who is having an interview, at a big Agency on Thursday and I am helping him create a portfolio since he is applying for copywriter. While speaking today I really found my self into his shoes, and after some more thinking I found most of my friends in his shoes. We are all at our mid 20's just finished from studies, military etc. And right now we are in the search of the career and rather in a search of a job. That's my advice for my friends try to see the big picture, dream and don't be afraid the dream is not real. Don't search for a Job search for a career, try to be selective and make everybody know that you not only deserve the career, you are born for it but first of all FIND OUT WHAT YOU REALLY LOVE TO DO. Fingers Crossed for: F,M,M,T,V,M,J,C,A,C....

Hats OFF!

Some support the theory that complicating things is much more easier than simplifying them.
Some others live with the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid)
and some believe that less is more.
This Amazing TV Commercial comes to support the above with the best way. Extremely low budget global campaign following today's trends very well directed, produced executed or else... HATS OFF!...you know who did it!

The Future is here, is it?

There are many times that I keep thinking what does the future of communication holds. One of the things I believe is that advertising will change from its current form.
I am sure that in the future consumers’ will be doing the job of the creatives... the problem is that I never thought that the future will be here with the first flight! And here is what I found:
Doritos DIY
Make your own Super Bowl commercial with Doritos. Take your handy cam and tell the world how Doritos fits into a person's life. Or like they say it themselves: "Shoot it. Submit it. We'll pick the top five and from those, America will vote for its favorite."
So there you go the future is here is it?

take a look at Doritos web site http://promotions.yahoo.com/doritos/

Sometimes i really love human brains. This site: http://www.music-map.com is something that many of you wanted to have. Once you enter you complete a field with your favorite artist or band and suddenly after the magical click you see a map with dozens of other bands or singers that are very close to our choise. Jeremy spokeen

Hmmm….A rainy Monday in Athens brings really good news. Pearl Jam will give a live concert in the OAKA sports hall on the 30th of September. The city is full of blue posters with an avocado (although today’s rain might have ruined them) and lots of people expect to see them live in Athens. By the way I love the artwork of the poster.

A little less hurt

This is the new commercial from Nike, i think it's a global campaign. Many people talk about it

i find it very emotional and touching at the same time. I like the music so if anyone knows the song please let me know. The Commercial was created by WK amsterdam
